Four dolls created in the image and likeness of Maricel Álvarez. Four characters she embodied recently in her theatrical performances, in the plays Dolor Exquisito [Exquisite Pain] (2008-2009), Hécuba o el gineceo canino [Hecuba or the Canine Gynaeceum] (2011-2012), Orlando. Una ucronía disfórica [Orlando: A Dysphoric History] (2017) and Medea Meditativa [Meditative Medea] (2022). Four ‘selves’, displayed on stage together with the actress. Four poetics, four texts, four creative experiences, all revisited in a performance about her artistic practice and personal journey.
The performance evokes texts by Sophie Calle, Emilio García Wehbi, Walt Whitman, Ricardo Ibarlucía and Pascal Quignard.
