The Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires is honoured to present the first solo exhibition at a museum in our city by the young artist Valentina Quintero (Mendoza, 1997).
Created especially for this exhibition, the works on display are a translation into painting of the artist’s stage performances. Drawing from her visual memory and bodily experience, Valentina constructs a painterly choreography that blends action and imagery. Her works are anatomical studies that do not seek stillness, but the tremors of movement, or the vibrations of a body in transit between the nightlife and urban culture.
The title Un día en la vida [A Day in the Life] alludes to the immediacy and dizzying pace at which Valentina produces her works, as if each piece emerged in the frenzy of a hectic day. Her technique, which recalls the monumentality of muralism, presents an electric language of striking contrasts against dark backgrounds. In a setting filled with colour and desire, bodies merge and intertwine, weaving together a shared history, a moment in time suspended in the rhythm of life.
