El arte, ese río interminable [Art, That Endless River], the programme whose exhibitions are spread across the ten galleries of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires during 2023, aims to showcase the power of the contemporary art scene in Argentina from the 1960s to the present.
This publication, which coincides with the 55th annual conference of CIMAM (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art) to be held at the Museo Moderno in November 2023, aims to accompany visitors not only through those ten exhibitions but also through the works that are part of the Collection. It also offers an overview of the work of the artists and the members of the Museum’s teams through their own testimonies.
“El arte, ese río interminable is a quote from Jorge Luis Borges’s Arte poética [The Art of Poetry], in which the great Argentinian writer reflects on the poiesis or power of art to create reality. Our 2023 exhibition programme shares that same ambition: to reveal the power of Argentinian art as an agent capable of transforming both historical and current realities”.
