Ana Gallardo: A Place to Live When We Get Old, an exhibition devoted to one of the
most valuable and committed artists in the Argentinian art scene, started with a crucial
question in her work: how to ensure a dignified old age for all? The result was a project
that included a whole host of actions, many of them documented here. Alongside the
significant body of images of her various performances and visual works, it includes
a text by Alejandra Aguado and an interview with the artist by writer Gabriela Cabezón
Cámera.
‘Ana Gallardo approaches artistic practice as a place of reflection, refuge, and
transformation. In it, her artistic explorations, and the twists and turns of her private life
coexist fully, in search of a means for life and work each to act on the other’s deficiencies
and gaps. Her work is not only invariably charged with contemporary issues, with what
fills the intimate diaries of daily life, but regains its capacity to put itself forward as a core
activity in her life. Literally bringing life to art and art to life, her practices open up
spontaneously to an intense search for meaning, affection, acceptance, hope,
