Lo mismo pero parecido [The Same But Similar]

In my creative process, ideas come to me spontaneously from words, sounds, anecdotes and memories tied to my gaucho roots. Being constantly open allows me to capture snippets from my environment – from a conversation on the bus, a song, or a visual image – and transform them into images and visual works of art, often using materials like wood or tin. Recently my work has been inspired by two incredible figures: the poet Leónidas Lamborghini, whose acceptance of imperfections and “deformed” results resonates with my own self-taught background, and the artist Alfredo Londaibere, whose technical mastery and spiritual sensitivity in his handcrafted pieces have left a deep impression on me. I try to combine these influences to create works that are “the same but similar”; that is, personal reinterpretations that resonate with tradition and the present.

My proposal for the residency at Casa Alberto Heredia and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires starts with interacting with the museum’s collection in order to explore its representations of gaucho culture, craftsmanship and Argentine cuisine. Working from texts, exhibitions and research, I will develop a series of paintings using different techniques and materials, accompanied by audiovisuals and a literary essay that will broaden these cultural ties. Lo mismo pero parecido is the working title for this project that brings together memory, identity and experimentation, seeking to provide a contemporary and personal perspective on tradition, but with an open and creative slant.
