Víctor Florido: Interiors

The Museo Moderno proudly presents a solo exhibition by the great Argentinian painter Víctor Florido (Buenos Aires, 1976). In this selection of works spanning more than a decade of production, Florido creates settings that draw viewers into a sensitive atmosphere, where every element is part of an inner reality. For Florido, painting is an exercise in introspection.

The thought-provoking domestic spaces he depicts operate as metaphors for reflection, spaces where the visible co-exists with the hidden. In his work, precisely defined presences exist alongside veiled or erased figures, echoing the way memory preserves yet also distorts what it strives to retain.

Florido approaches his paintings with patience and mastery, using a deliberately subdued palette that allows him to focus on the formal and narrative dimensions of painting. Such dedication is not, however, aimed at controlling the work or executing a preconceived plan. Rather, it is a process that allows the unexpected to emerge. ‘I like to think of the artwork as an unexpected event, something that wasn’t planned or meant to have a set purpose’, says the artist. Interiors is an invitation to glimpse that event.
