Moderno and MetaModerno Collection 1980-2024

Each year, the Museo Moderno renews its commitment to the artistic community through its active plan to strengthen and expand its collection of Argentine contemporary art.

This programme was established in 2019 with the creation of the Procurement Committee, which is responsible for raising public and private funds to incorporate historic and contemporary works of art by Argentinian artists. This process has resulted in an ongoing plan for acquisitions, donations and loans, and has allowed the Museum’s collection to become more enriched and diversified, transforming it into a public collection that is increasingly pluralistic and representative. In continuous dialogue with the local art scene, the collection is like a living organism, growing and transforming as it is updated, expanded and reconfigured in response to the changes and tensions of the artistic present.

Thanks to the work of the Procurement Committee and the Collections, Conservation and Curatorial departments, the Museo Moderno has incorporated works of art that trace new genealogies between generations of artists, drive research, expand the federal nature of the collection, and continue the historic efforts of the museum in accompanying emerging productions.

The exhibition of these works of art reveals the most recent expansions of the public collection and sheds light on the research process that upholds them.
