TokonOMa is the fusion of Tokonoma Design store specialized in contemporary ceramics and the OM brand, Olga Martínez. Contemporary art.
It seeks to place design and author’s objects in a context of relationships that exceed the decorative, and that are integrated into the production of contemporary artists.
It accompanies the careers of a selection of contemporary artists and designers, combining the dynamics of a gallery – with exhibitions and activations – together with a Store with its own value.
It integrates, in the new space on Rue des Artisans, a confirmed place for arts and design, close to an area of galleries and museums, in the heart of the City of Buenos Aires.
Our motivations:
TokonOMa was born to accompany the impact of design on our environment, from its possibilities closest to author’s craftsmanship to professional and commercial design.
We are motivated to link and explore the relationship between art and design from the concept of expanded field in the contemporary visual arts scene. In this connection, we promote the synergy necessary to encourage and increase a common market.
We create and create close relationships in a collaborative environment between our artists and designers. The same plasticity of the material opens the way to experimentation and to other languages that we embrace with the same enthusiasm and commitment.
Through exhibitions, meetings with creators and specialists, we seek to open conversations about contemporary and emerging work, to disseminate current production and expand the circulation of audiences and connoisseurs.
