We were born in 1977, when Jacques founded the gallery. We have been changing locations, even closed for a few years. At that time there was talk of avant-garde and the gallery and its artists were it. They were young people who were at the beginning of their careers and today they are part of the history of Argentine art. We continue working with them and they constitute a source of pride that we fully embrace, but that does not make us a dusty and old gallery. We have been incorporating new artists who share with us the idea of serious and committed work that will take us together into the future. We are a multigenerational and multidisciplinary team. We work with files and make them available to the public. We understand its importance both to contextualize and validate artists and their works and to contribute to the formation of the future history of art in our country.
We have a very important back room and a great infrastructure designed to show it and receive the public.
Faithful to the idea that things happen as they are made, the Jacques Martínez Gallery will continue to vindicate the art gallery in its necessary role in culture and the national market, but also question and challenge it from within.
