Isla Flotante

Floating Island began as an artist-run space in 2012. It was a mix of exhibition space and artist workshops. Once a month we had a party so it was also a very important meeting and socializing place. Over the years it became a core point of the Buenos Aires art scene, due to its commitment to showcasing very young and promising artists. In the following years, the gallery’s presence in international fairs contributed to the exponential growth of the project, whose core remains intact: the spirit of young avant-garde and the conviction of the importance of working with young artists who show concerns about an agenda that their own gallery as an organic body feels the need to underline: self-criticism of the legitimation, power and circulation strategies of the art world, gender and identity problems.
