Buenos Aires, 1978. Lives and works in New York. Bringing together concrete and metaphorical images, Sofía Quirno ́s work proposes an experience of everyday associations. Infuenced by the Argentine tradition of Feminism, Surrealism, and Psychoanalysis, Quirno sets to play with exiting schemas using humor to evidence vulnerability.
Her paintings and installations reinterpret landscapes of life to enhance the perception of the strange and often funny experience that it is to be in the world. Using collage as her underlying processes, she experiments with montage, overlapping images and perspectives to capture the randomness of thoughts and the multiple relationships between meanings and forms.
