(Buenos Aires, 1968) is a self-taught visual artist. He has held several solo exhibitions, focusing in recent years on revisiting the history of Argentine art. He lives and works in Southern Patagonia. Some of his main exhibitions include “¿Qué queda del daño? Imágenes contemporáneas de la Guerra del Paraguay” at Marc, Museo Histórico de Rosario; “Ruleta Greca” at UV Estudios; “Artista en Residencia” at Perfuch 2, UV Estudios; “Pibes y Coqueterías” at Cabinet solo project arteba, Galería Miau Miau; “Costera Criolla” at CCK, Buenos Aires. He also published “Reconstrucción visual de registros textuales: Alberto Greco ¡Qué grande sos!” by Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, and “Pettoruti Vincitor” at Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes, Corrientes. Other exhibitions include “Unicornios Y Federales” at Vasari Galería de Arte, Buenos Aires, and “Varones” at Museo Castagnino-Macro, Rosario.
He participated in the “Malona!” project, a commemorative project for the bicentennial at malba contemporáneo.
Alberto Passolini has received various awards and distinctions, including the “Beca para Viajes Colección Oxenford” in 2014, the “Premio Nacional Uade” (First Prize) in 2008, the “Premio Fundación Octubre” (First Prize) in 2006, the “Premio arteBA-Petrobras de Artes Visuales” (Second Prize) in 2004, and the “Beca del Fondo Nacional de las Artes” (Subsidy for Artistic Creation) in 2002. His visual art practice involves reinterpretations of historiographic texts and the use of visual elements, blurring the boundaries between the pictorial and written word. In December 2011, he was invited by The City College of the City University of New York (CUNY) to present “Lector Irreverente: diálogos entre texto e imágenes en la obra de Alberto Passolini” (Irreverent Reader: Dialogues between Text and Images in the Work of Alberto Passolini).
