Miguel Ocampo (Buenos Aires, 1922- La Cumbre, 2015) graduated in architecture from the UBA, was a visual artist and diplomat. As soon as he finished university he traveled to Paris to continue his studies and exhibited early. Upon his return he participated in the avant-garde groups of the early 1950s. His paintings represented Argentina at the San Pablo and Venice Biennale. As a diplomat he worked in the cultural area in Rome and New York until 1979. Ocampo obtained numerous awards and unanimous recognition from specialized critics. Since the 80s he settled in La Cumbre. In 2007 he created the museum attached to his atelier and opened it to the community with the exhibition of his work (about 2,300 pieces including drawings and paintings) and cultural activities. He was honored by the Municipality in 2007 with the title of Illustrious Citizen of La Cumbre.
The Jacques Martínez Gallery works representing the Estate of Miguel Ocampo, and together with the Miguel Ocampo Museum in the cataloging and digitization of its archive.
