Mauro Millán is a lonko from the Pillán Mahuiza community, in Chubut, Argentina. 21 years ago he participated in that territorial recovery. Today he accompanies similar processes in different parts of Patagonia. He is a member and spokesperson of the 11 de Octubre organization, a group made up of Mapuche-Tehuelche people who live in urban centers and rural communities. Its members propose the reorganization of the people who originally inhabited the territories occupied today by Chile and Argentina. Their fight is not only about recovering the lands that were taken from them. It also consists of the recovery of Mapuche history, philosophy and culture, as an instrument that allows them to project themselves into the future within the context of globalizing oppression. Millán is, in turn, Kimeltuchefe Retrafe (Mapuche master jeweler).
