Starting from an exercise of understanding the vulnerability of the body and thinking of it as a place of subjection, opening the debate around the uses that inhabit it and the naturalization of some practices of containment, domination and dependence, the triggers emerge to think about my production. as a process of construction of specific identities.
In my production I seek to point out the not always visible links between fashion, orthopedics, religion and consumption, exposing how for years, through stylistic and political operations, systems of power have worked on the order of bodies, creating their own patterns of normality and creating hegemonic models of reproduction of bodily visualities.
My practice is related to the body and how it is crossed by disciplines, by impositions, by experiences and decant in dichotomous situations between enjoyment and discomfort and from this I carry out the construction of certain gadgets in materials with different conservation and deterioration processes. such as resin, iron or textiles. At the same time, the sculpture objects are made on their own scale with a traditional molding design system and in most cases are intended as bras/prostheses. In this way, the orthopedic structures, the weight of the ornament/jewelry/amulet and the feeling of discomfort clearly exemplify how social functions condition the shapes of the bodies, in turn giving rise to new behaviors, postures, symbols and performativities.
