ARCHIVO NACIONAL DE LA MEMORIA

We preserve and disseminate the documentary heritage on the violation of human rights in Argentina, as part of the public policies of Memory, Truth and Justice.
The ANM is the institution in charge of preserving documentation on the violation of human rights in Argentina. It has in custody funds and collections of public and private origin, mostly linked to the last civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983), which serve as evidence in trials for crimes against humanity, supporting reparation policies for victims and are available to be consulted by the entire community.
In this way, the ANM responds to the triple social function of archives: it is institutional memory for preserving the traces of its own actions, it constitutes a source for research and knowledge of the recent past, and it guarantees the exercise of individual and collective rights.
Since 2008, the ANM has operated in the Space for Memory and for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (former ESMA)
