Cabruja Juan Ignacio

Juan Ignacio Cabruja is an experimental artist who currently focuses his work on the pictorial exploration of light, its absence, as well as the way it interacts with space and other materials. He understands the atmospheric as an aesthetic category where he constantly explores. He is interested in how the public relates emotionally to the climates and atmospheres generated. He works with elements and tools related to the night, in a sensitive way, trying to generate temporalities and suspended spaces. He also often works by reviewing paintings from art history, generating quotes through using the color maps of those works in an abstract way.

He works as an illuminator, visualist and making lighting and interactive installations. Covering it as a way to experiment and continue investigating the phenomena of the different projects that he is developing.

Graduate in Fine Arts from the U.N.R. He investigates different tools and theoretical and technical knowledge by attending various training spaces. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s degree in “Theory and aesthetics of electronic arts” at UNTREF and “Ab – ele”, a choral exchange space for work, curatorial and editorial projects taught by Carla Barbero and Javier Villa. In 2022, he completed the postgraduate course “” Technologies in contemporary art. Update program.”” (UBA). In 2021 he carried out the “Artists Program” taught by the Torcuato Di Tella University and in 2019, he carried out “Escuela Prestada” at the J.M. Municipal School. Musto, Rosario, a program that invited artists to work and connect with the school, its teachers, students and workshops. He also held courses and clinics with references and artists.

Among his exhibitions and individual presentations, the following stand out: “” Luz mala remixed “” with text by Catalina Silvetti in Quimera Galería (2023, CABA); “”Luz Mala””, in Satélite gallery (2022, Córdoba); participation with specific installation in Espacio Audiovisual ArteBa curated by Julieta Tarraubella (2021, CABA); “”Every voltage is possible””, performative installation with Iván Gonzalez at Galería Satélite (2021, Córdoba); and Mediato” individual exhibition at CRUDO (2021, Rosario).

Among the group exhibitions and awards that participated are mentioned: “”Andreani Foundation Award 2023″”, at Andreani Foundation (2023, CABA); “”Temporal atemporal””, curated by Yuyo Gardiol at CCD Arte (2020, Punta del Este, Uruguay); Argentine Prize for visual arts – OSDE Foundation (2021, CABA); 9th Rafaela Biennial. Museum “Dr. Urbano Poggi” (Rafaela, 2021); 48th Tucumán Hall, for the National level, of Visual Arts (Tucumán, 2020); Cabinet Selection 2020 National Hall, at Museo Castagnino + Macro (Rosario, 2020); “”Jet Lag”” curated by Yuyo Gardiol within the framework of Panorama (Rosario, 2020); and “”Popup””, a launch sample for the new CRUDO space (Rosario, 2020).
