Gonzalo Maggi was born in Buenos Aires in 1984. He trained as a film director at the film university, completed the Artists Program at the Torcuatto Di Tella University (2013) and the FNA CONTI Scholarship (2014). He has conducted workshops and construction clinics with Gabriel Valansi, Alberto Goldenstein, Hernán Marina and Juan Travnik.
In 2013 he held his first individual exhibition (Silent but insists) curated by Alberto Goldenstein at the C.C.R.R. In 2014 he exhibited at the Teatro de la Rivera (Inminencia) curated by Juan Travnick. In 2019 he held his third individual exhibition (DO NOT WAKE UP THE CITY) in Munar. Orbitar (UNGS, 2019), Fictions on the margins (Pasto gallery, 2017), Human landscapes (Winzavod, Moscow, Russia, 2015), From the edges (M.A.C.R.O., 2014), DOS (Lebensohn Foundation, 2013) and Territories (National Fund de las Artes, 2013) are group exhibitions in which he participated.
His works were exhibited in museums (M.A.C.R.O, Emilio Caraffa Museum, M.A.C, Evita Fine Arts Museum, Palais de Glace and M.A.C.L.A) galleries (Aldo de Sousa, Pasto, Carla Rey, Arte x Arte, Bisagra Arte Contemporáneo) and foundations and centers cultural (Rojas Cultural Center, Recoleta Cultural Center, Lebenshon Foundation).
In 2015 he obtained the Creation scholarship from the National Endowment for the Arts. His work was a finalist in the competitions: “Itaú Cultural Prize for Visual Arts (2017 and 2012)”, “Andreani Foundation Prize for Visual Arts (2017)”, “Visual Arts Competition – FNA – (2017)”, “Prize Chimera of Art and Political Reflection (2015, jury mention), “Salon of Contemporary Photography of the Caraffa Museum (2014 and 2012, jury mention)” “National Salon of Rosario (2012)”, “Art x Art Biennial (2012) ”, “National Hall of Visual Arts (2012)”, “Annual Prize of the Buenos Aires legislature (2012)“ and “People of my city (2012, fifth prize and 2013, jury mention)”.
