Grinblat Julio

Julio Grinblatt was born in 1960 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His work was shown extensively in the last three decades in Argentina and abroad, including the United States of America, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, Finland and Italy, among other countries. Solo shows in Buenos Aires were held at the Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art (MAMBA) in 2001, at the ICI in 1999 and at the Central Cultural Ricardo Rojas in 1995. He participated in exhibitions at the Museum Reina Sofía, Madrid (Spain); at MoMA PS1 and El Museo del Barrio in New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art of Philadelphia (United States of America); at the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels (Belgium); at the Amos Anderson Art Museum (Helsinki, Finland); and in the Museo de Arte Zapopan (Guadalajara, Mexico), and at the National Museum of Fine Arts (Buenos Aires, Argentina), among others.
His works are represented in various public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Berlin Museum of Photography and the Buenos Aires Museums of Modern Art and the Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro. His exhibition “Cielito lindo” at Minus Space (New York) was reviewed by Eva Díaz in Artforum. He co-curated with Joachim Pissarro, Bibi Calderaro and Michelle Yun “Notations / The John Cage Effect ”at the Hunter College gallery. Art critic Thomas Crow opens the Artforum issue “Best of 2012” with an extensive note on the show, which had been reviewed previously in the summer issue. Publications of his work include BLINK. Arta Ediciones (Buenos Aires) is currently working on a book about his latest performances in Buenos Aires. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and studied History of Photography and Photographic Aesthetics with Juan Travnik. He receives a Master of Fine Arts degree from Hunter College / City University New York in 2010 where he has been teaching since 2009. Lives and works in Brooklyn, United States on America.
