El Mirador is a mutant project, a living gallery, a laboratory of experimentation, intuition, and subversion of artistic practice towards new reproductive, transdisciplinary, and community-driven modes of production and exhibition of Argentine art.
Founded in 2012 in the historic San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, El Mirador’s mission seeks to promote and support the development of visual arts in Argentina.
Since our inception, we have been dedicated to planning and managing strategies to expand opportunities for exposure, training, and marketing of young artists from both the national scene and the global south, fundamentally dedicated to supporting the development of young artists in realizing their first exhibits, then helping them to build solid and consistent careers over time. We have developed and produced more than 50 individual and group exhibitions to-date.
In 2018, we also created an annual training and education program called “Artists x Artists”, now in its 6th edition. More than 250 artists have participated in the program, working with renowned teachers and artists from the local scene, such as Ana Gallardo, Nicanor Aráoz, Florencia Rodriguez Giles, Alfredo Prior, Mónica Heller, and Eduardo Basualdo, among others. We believe that training of young artists is essential to creating a solid art scene. As such, it is our mandate to collaborate in the professional development of their careers and to help them understand and value their artistic practice.
Currently, El Mirador represents six emerging artists, all based in Buenos Aires: Flavia Da Rin, Jimena Travaglio, Facundo Belén, Tobías Mao and Candelaria Fernández Coya.
