W

W was established in 2016 in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. Born with the intention of tending
bridges and reflect judiciously about
artistic processes, production conditions,
cultural consumption and political-affective ties
between works, artists, public and institutions.
The gallery has three locations. In
Buenos Aires, W—file occupies space
iconic that housed the mythical CAyC (Center of
Art and Communication), responsible institution
of the internationalization of local art and
Latin America between 1969 and the middle of
the 90s. The gallery continues that spirit
experimental through collaborations and
dialogue between artists of different generations
and develops at this headquarters a program of
exhibitions that focus on the archive, which
editorial and research as a process.
Also in Buenos Aires, W—gallery is
located in the space where the collection used to be
Helft during the 80s, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood
of San Telmo. With an ambitious program
semiannual of an institutional nature, presents
four large-scale rooms and an imposing garden
in 1600 m2 designed to exhibit proposals
contemporary cultures nourished by a program of
activities that encourage crossing with others
disciplines.
In Pueblo Garzón, Uruguay, in a space
surrounded by hills, olive trees and vineyards, W—
naturae offers an exhibition program
that seeks to promote ecological initiatives
and artistic in relation to the environment. Point to
create a unique and conducive context for art,
renewing the traditional concept of space
exhibition and inserting itself into the artistic scene
contemporary Latin American.
In addition to the annual programming of
exhibitions and participation in fairs
internationally, W has its own label
publishing house for the production of artists’ books and
essays. Since February 2019, he has been producing Yulinda,
a biannual publication that seeks to build
a space for dissemination, discussion and thought,
raise questions and encourage investigations
on contemporary artistic practices.
