Ricardo Garabito (Trenque Lauquen 1930)
Draftsman, painter and teacher, he moved to Buenos Aires at the age of eighteen, where he lives and works in his workshop in the Monserrat neighborhood. One of his greatest discursive obsessions has been to explore the representation of his surrounding reality with various pictorial nuances, mainly in the figuration of characters in everyday situations and still lifes. Observing his surroundings and realistically capturing objects and people in everyday situations, Garabito prioritizes capturing the diverse and multiple facets they offer. He displays a large set of popular characters where the represented character is positioned in his environment without a major difference in terms of importance of status between him and the background. Garabito, without losing the irony, the absurd and even the clumsy, represents aspects of reality.
