Diego Figueroa ́s body of work explores the tensions between the “legitimate” and the popular. His operations make use of procedures like the quote and displacement; parody and intelligent sarcasm are applied to canonical works from Western art and culture history, through a personal grammar of everyday materials, whose use alters and diverts.
Paintings, sculptures, drawings and installations, that further interrogate the tensions between the popular and the classic, and the relations of class and power that they inevitably represent, transferring those tensions to the materials
with which he works.
