Alfredo Dufour whimsically employs techniques and tools, digitally drawing in a rudimentary program (Paint), painting with non-professional materials and items, and creating frame-by-frame animations that he sometimes envisions as videoclips. The imagery in his work is humble, everyday, and domestic, belon- ging to the realm of popular culture. He emphasizes observation and synthesis, perceiving the existing elements as building blocks for new symbolic possibilities. He believes in the duality of everything that surrounds him. He pursues comedy and drama, attempting to reproduce that state in concrete, brief, and easily readable images. He plays with memory. The artworks materialize an accumulated empirical knowledge eagerly seeking to become an image. Episodes and se- mantics serve as his resources. At times, he forgets, ignores, exaggerates, or imitates that source.
