Abrir agujeros a la realidad 8 (2020) - 40 x 65 cm - acrylic on canvas

Born in La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Böer studied law in the 1990s, but turned to art in 2001, after entering the National University of La Plata, where she focused on painting. She is currently an art professor at that university. Böer began painting in the figurative tradition, but soon began experimenting with geometric abstraction. In 2009 she obtained the Espacio Cultural Nuestros Hijos scholarship from the National Fund for the Arts (ECuNHi-FNA), supervised by Andrés Labaké, Pablo De Monte and Marcelo Pelissier. That same year she participated in the III Milenio residency program, at the Mirador del Júcar International Residence, Spain. In 2011 she received the Route 66 scholarship for Project School, which allowed her to attend an artist’s workshop, with the guidance of Manuel Amestoy and Sergio Bazán.
