Selvanegra is a gallery specialized in contemporary art founded in 2017 by Silvina and Josefina Sicoli. The project promotes the positioning and dissemination of the work of young and mid-career Argentinian artists.
The gallery is located in the downtown area of the City of Buenos Aires, an emblematic area of local art history, where it occupies a space with a stained glass view of the street, which, without being a white cube, provides special conditions for each exhibition. Each proposal is projected from the interior space to the public on the street as a way to link to the environment.
Five exhibitions and a summer residence are produced annually, where the gallery space functions as a workshop that is opened to the public upon completion.
The project was born and branched out with a profile linked to feminisms and affection as a political tool. It promotes links with publishers, publications, institutions and fairs, aimed at the development of the artists’ work and the enhancement and visibility in the art scene.
