The activity of our Department is aimed at the study and development of contemporary art through teaching, research and experimental artistic production. Since 2009 we have offered an Artists Program, an experimental space for artists, critics and curators interested in participating in an intensive experience of training, discussion and production in a university setting. We have also offered a Film Program since 2017. Both programs involve rethinking what art and what cinema is, and what their role is in contemporary society.
With the intention of generating a space from the education of contemporary art where research and experimental artistic production can be developed, the Art Department carries out an annual program of exhibitions open to the public with free admission. We also offer each year a series of international conferences and symposia on topics fundamental to understanding contemporary artistic practices in their specific context.
