Jorge Estomba was born in Buenos Aires in 1939. In 1950 he took his first painting classes at night school. In 1960 he traveled to the Argentine Northwest after abandoning his Chemistry studies. From that moment on he began to dedicate himself to painting. That same year he met Enrique Policastro and began his training in Demetrio Urruchúa’s workshop. In 1963 he traveled to Europe and met Lino Enea Spilimbergo in Paris. In 1965 and 1966 he created murals with López Taetzal and Costamagna. He also made the first exhibition of his drawings at the Sala Peuser, in Buenos Aires. Since 1980 he alternated his residence between Buenos Aires and Europe, where he exhibited in important galleries in Vienna, Munich, Brussels, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and participated in fairs in Cologne (Germany), Basel (Switzerland) and ARCO (Madrid). During the last years he exhibited regularly in important galleries in Buenos Aires: Principium (2003/2004), Palatina (2005/2008) and Hoy en el Arte (2012). He died in Buenos Aires on August 9, 2016.
