Florencia Sadir (1991) grew up in Cafayate (Salta province), Argentina. She attended Taller C at the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Tucuman (Tucuman, Argentina). She completed the Artists’ Programme 2020/21 at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and a study program at the Escuela Flora Ars + Natura (Bogotá, Colombia). In 2021 she presented the solo exhibition Still things made shadow at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Salta (MAC-Salta, Argentina) curated by Andrea Fernández. In July 2022 she participated in the Aichi Triennial, entitled Still Alive and directed by Mami Kataoka. She is the only artist in residence selected for the Triennial. Florencia’s work is grounded in a dialogue with her de ella homeland (Valles Calchaquíes) where she currently lives and works, about inherited knowledge and learning in community. Her installations, sculptures and drawings are composed with natural materials, from clay in different states for construction to the use of basketry woven with vegetable fibers to create objects that accentuate their dysfunctionality. Her works invite the audience to reflect on how production, work and consumption times have been decoupled from life cycles. Her works form part of numerous public and private collections in Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
