Carrie Bencardino (b. 1993, Buenos Aires – Argentina) studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a specialization in Painting at the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires. They was awarded a scholarship to participate in the 2020 Artists x Artists Program of the El Mirador Foundation and was selected by the Torcuato Di Tella University to carry out the 2019 Artists Program. They won a non-acquisition mention at the 2022 Fundación Klemm Prize, the regional prize of the Visual Arts Contest of FNA 2022, the Rosario Bléfari Award at the Jamaica Salon of Visual Arts 2020 and the 2nd Prize of the SNAV of La Pampa – Drawing Section 2019. In 2021 they participated in a residence during June and July in Munar with the Princesa del Asfalto collective, of which they is a member. In 2019 they received the Formation scholarship from the National Fund for the Arts for the production of a new body of works. They carried out workshops with Flavia Da Rin, Carla Barbero and Javier Villa, and Manuel Ameztoy. They assisted the artist Cai Guo-Qiang in the production of his Gunpowder Drawings exhibited at Fundación Proa in 2014. They held her first solo show in 2020 at PIEDRAS gallery, titled “I’m never going to forget what a bad time I had.” They participated in group shows and performed in spaces such as Centro Cultural Kirchner, Casa Nacional del Bicentenario, La Bienal 2019, FIVA 2019, Brun Cattaneo Performance Award, Centro CIA, UNL Young Art Biennial 2018, in galleries such as Barro, UV, and PM, and at art fairs such as arteBA (Argentina), Material (Mexico), and NADA Miami (US).
