The presentations and debates of the 55th CIMAM Annual Conference will be held on the mornings of 9\u201311 November 2023 from 9 a.m.\u20131 p.m. in the Auditorium of the<\/b>\u00a0Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires<\/b><\/a>.<\/b>\u00a0Ample time will be set aside for participation and dialogue. For the first time, simultaneous translation to and from Spanish and a cr\u00e8che for children will be offered during the Conference sessions.<\/p>

During the afternoon and evening sessions, a rich programme of visits will enable attendees to experience first-hand the vast spread of Argentina\u2019s truly diverse multi-disciplinary art scene<\/b>, including not only the visual arts but theatre, literature, film, dance and experimental music.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

From Proa, in small groups of 15\u201320 to allow meaningful dialogues between visitors and the hosts of the different spaces, we will be visiting Proa21, Fundaci\u00f3n Andreani, Fundaci\u00f3n Larivi\u00e8re Fotograf\u00eda Latinoamericana, Fundaci\u00f3n Forner-Bigatti, the art galleries in the area, the alternative spaces and residency programmes of the Fundaci\u00f3n El Mirador, La Verdi and Munar, as well as the studio of the late Le\u00f3n Ferrari and more!<\/p>

The day includes a special invitation to attend Puccini\u2019s\u00a0Madama Butterfly<\/i><\/a>\u00a0at the magnificent\u00a0Teatro Col\u00f3n<\/b><\/a>, acoustically one of the six most important opera houses in the world. After Conference on\u00a0Day 2<\/b>\u00a0and a tour of the Museo Moderno\u2019s current exhibitions, there will be\u00a0an informal lunch<\/b>\u00a0hosted by<\/b>\u00a0Malba<\/b><\/a>. After a visit to its current exhibitions,\u00a0we will explore the various museums along Museum Mile on Libertador Avenue and on towards Puerto Madero<\/b>. From Malba, we will visit the\u00a0Museo Eduardo S\u00edvori<\/b>\u00a0in the beautiful Palermo Gardens, the Casa Victoria Ocampo\/Fondo Nacional de las Artes, designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo, and the encyclopaedic\u00a0Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes<\/b>. We will then head downtown to\u00a0ArtHaus<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and finish our museum tour with an\u00a0evening reception hosted by<\/b>\u00a0Colecci\u00f3n AMALITA<\/b><\/a>, whose premises in Puerto Madero were designed by architect Rafael Vi\u00f1oly to grace the port of Buenos Aires<\/b>. The Museo Moderno is saving the most innovative programme for\u00a0Day 3<\/b>, for which it will spend the whole year preparing.\u00a0This experience is being designed to offer<\/b>\u00a0an afternoon of<\/b>\u00a0tailor-made visits and meetings so that all 200+ professionals attending can enter into meaningful dialogues with a potentially vast number of actors from the cultural ecosystem of the arts in Argentina<\/b>.<\/p>

With this in mind, we will be writing to all professionals travelling with a questionnaire about their artistic interests. In the months leading up to the Conference, the Museo Moderno\u2019s curatorial team will be available for one-on-one conversations with every professional attending in order to provide information and feedback on artists, trends, movements, institutions, archives and projects. Starting in June, we will be inviting all attendees to access a website of Argentina\u2019s modern and contemporary scene and the exhibitions and artists on view in November.<\/p>

We therefore strongly suggest you extend your stay in Buenos Aires at the height of spring for at least two more days to take full advantage of the rich programme being prepared by the capital\u2019s 60+ art institutions and galleries<\/b>.\u00a0Day 3<\/b>\u00a0will then conclude with the\u00a0CIMAM General Assembly and dinner in the eighteenth-century colonial monastery today housing the Fundaci\u00f3n Mercedes Sosa,<\/b>\u00a0a stone\u2019s throw from the Moderno. Dinner and the after-dinner party will be organized and supported by the Asociaci\u00f3n de Amigos del Museo Moderno in honour of all the CIMAM travellers and local hosts taking part in this intense 3-day programme. The Museo Moderno invites you to reserve a ticket for a Post-Conference Tour to\u00a0Salta<\/b>\u00a0in the Argentinian North-West, 12\u201313 November 2023. Known as \u2018Salta La Linda\u2019 (Salta The Beautiful), the city is set in gorgeous Andean landscapes and showcases an exceptionally important tradition of visual arts informed by the landscape, local materials including red soils and clays and natural dyes, indigenous local cultures in the realms of weaving and pottery, and major cultural crossovers with modern and contemporary art.<\/p>

On Sunday November 12, we will be taking an early flight from Jorge Newbery Airport in the heart of Buenos Aires (15 mins from the hotel) to Salta, where we will have the chance to visit the city\u2019s standout spaces and exhibitions, including the\u00a0Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo (MAC)<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes de Salta<\/b>, which, among other shows, will be housing the group exhibition of Wich\u00ed artists\u00a0Lhajus Lhenek<\/b>, curated by the Wich\u00ed artists\u2019 and poets\u2019 collective\u00a0Centro Cultural TEWOK<\/b>\u00a0from the north of Salta Province. We will also visit\u00a0the legendary tapestry studio of \u2018Pajita\u2019 and Rodrigo Garc\u00eda Bes<\/b>, as well as the vital art space Remota, run by artist Guido Yannitto and gallery owner Gonzalo El\u00edas.<\/p>

On Monday November 13, we will be setting off early in the morning and travelling in the comfort of coaches through\u00a0one of the most spectacular mountainous landscapes in the world<\/b>\u00a0to the Andean town of\u00a0Cafayate<\/b>, home to a vibrant community of contemporary artists. We will pause along the way to enjoy the many views and places of interest, such as the\u00a0Garganta del Diablo (Devil\u2019s Throat)<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0the Amphitheatre<\/b>, a rock formation that will feature an on-site project by Cafayate-born artist Javier Soria V\u00e1zquez. Lunch will be served in one of the local vineyards in the heart of the\u00a0Calchaqu\u00ed Valleys<\/b>, after which we can take in\u00a0the studio museum of the late artist Calixto Maman\u00ed<\/b>\u00a0in the village. Finally, we will immerse ourselves in the\u00a0open-air project<\/b>\u00a0by local artist Florencia Sadir.
