It includes a text by the exhibition curator Laura Hakel, as well as selected fragments from a conversation with the artist in which he discusses his relationship with his home town of Tucumán, the themes that inspire his work and the different sources that he draws on when making his pieces.

‘Chaile uses austere materials that refer to basic social needs such as food, housing and work. He makes a mud-clay oven into a devotional figure, a provisional work space into a habitat and a builder’s screed into a language. The syncretism of his works is more than a way of bringing together symbolic elements or citing the past: it redirects our focus onto the tensions and survival strategies of communities marginalized by large economies.’

Laura Hakel

This publication was produced for the exhibition Gabriel Chaile: Patricia, opened by the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires on 11 March, 2017.

["post-12725","libros","type-libros","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
