In The Enchanting Present<\/em>, Diego Bianchi <\/strong>(Buenos Aires, 1969) has arranged an encounter between his artworks and historic pieces by other artists drawn from the Modern Collection, the first time his work has ever been used in this way. Bianchi was inspired by the Museo Collection to transform his exhibition into an interactive, immersive installation that mixes together his own pieces with works by artists such as Roberto Aizenberg, Ary Brizzy, Mildred Burton, Enio Iommi, Olga Gerding, Edgardo Gim\u00e9nez, Norberto G\u00f3mez, Alberto Heredia, Gyula Kosice, Eduardo Mac Entyre, Margarita Paksa, Aldo Paparella, Rogelio Polesello, Emilio Renart, Rub\u00e9n Santanton\u00edn and Miguel \u00c1ngel Vidal, among others. Bianchi sees this as a natural response to his history as an artist, ignoring the restrictions or hang-ups often seen in academia. The material and formal themes in his pieces resonate in different ways with the informalist and optical artworks that make-up the core of the Moderno\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another feature of the exhibition at the Moderno is a long passage that wraps around the entirety of the gallery. This is a work in itself but also a circulation and exhibition space that physically prepares the spectator to enter the gallery. His intervention also includes the production of new works in the form of devices, situations and platforms for circulation, exhibition and perception of other artworks, be they historical pieces from the Collection or the artist\u2019s past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bio:
Bianchi<\/strong> began his training with a course in Graphic Design at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Between 2002 and 2003 he attended the art clinic organized by Pablo Siquier. Then, between 2003 and 2005, he took part in the C. C. Rojas-UBA-Kuitca Visual Artists Programme (Kuitca Grant) while in 2006 he took up a residency at the Skowehegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, USA. He is a teacher at the Artists Programme of the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. His most recent solo exhibitions include those at: Barro arte contempor\u00e1neo, Buenos Aires, 2016; P\u00e9rez Art Museum Miami, 2015; Wienner Festwochen, Austria, and Bienal de Performance Argentina, Buenos Aires, 2015; Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, Paris, 2015; ABC Art Berlin Contemporary, 2014; and Galer\u00eda Alberto Sendr\u00f3s, Buenos Aires, 2013.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
