The Museo Moderno proudly presents a solo exhibition by the great Argentinian painter V\u00edctor Florido (Buenos Aires, 1976). In this selection of works spanning more than a decade of production, Florido creates settings that draw viewers into a sensitive atmosphere, where every element is part of an inner reality. For Florido, painting is an exercise in introspection.<\/span><\/p>

The thought-provoking domestic spaces he depicts operate as metaphors for reflection, spaces where the visible co-exists with the hidden. In his work, precisely defined presences exist alongside veiled or erased figures, echoing the way memory preserves yet also distorts what it strives to retain.<\/span><\/p>

Florido approaches his paintings with patience and mastery, using a deliberately subdued palette that allows him to focus on the formal and narrative dimensions of painting. Such dedication is not, however, aimed at controlling the work or executing a preconceived plan. Rather, it is a process that allows the unexpected to emerge. \u2018I like to think of the artwork as an unexpected event, something that wasn\u2019t planned or meant to have a set purpose\u2019, says the artist. <\/span>Interiors<\/span><\/i> is an invitation to glimpse that event.<\/span><\/p>

V\u00edctor Florido<\/b> (Buenos Aires, 1976) From the age of 15, Florido studied painting with Sergio Baz\u00e1n and took art history classes with Laura Batkis. He financed part of his training with grants he received from Fundaci\u00f3n Antorchas, through which he was also able to participate in the Experimental Theatre Workshop offered by Rub\u00e9n Szuchmacher in 1998 at the Goethe-Institut.<\/span><\/p>

In 2001 and 2002, he completed a residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, having previously completed a residency at the Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in S\u00e3o Paulo. He also participated in the Centro de investigaciones Art\u00edsticas, overseen by Roberto Jacoby.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

His work has been shown at institutes such as the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Buenos Aires), Fundaci\u00f3n PROA (Buenos Aires), MUNTREF-Museo de la Inmigraci\u00f3n (Buenos Aires), the Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes Juan B. Castagnino (Rosario), Galer\u00eda Sendr\u00f3s (Buenos Aires) and Galer\u00eda Superficie (S\u00e3o Paulo). He has participated in several international art fairs, such as ART Miami, ArtBO, SParte and arteBA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Since 2014, his work is held in collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof\u00eda (Madrid, Spain), the Museu de Arte Brasileira-MAB FAAP (S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil) and FRAC Aquitaine (Bordeaux, France).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

His work has also appeared in publications such as <\/span>L\u00e1piz<\/span><\/i> magazine (No. 195, \u201cV\u00edctor Florido\u201d, by Laura Batkis), <\/span>Artforum<\/span><\/i> (XLIX, N\u00ba 4, \u201cBest of 2010\u201d, by Victoria Noorthoorn). The book <\/span>V\u00edctor Florido, pinturas 1999-2015<\/span><\/i> was published in 2015, with texts by Roberto Amigo and edited by KBB.<\/span><\/p>
